Economics Evaluation Workshop — Ace Your Evaluation Skills

A-level exam prep can be challenging, and as finals approach, JC students often struggle to keep up with the Economics syllabus. Evaluation is consistently the most underrated skill — students know their content but lose marks because they can't structure a convincing, well-reasoned judgement.

Ace Your Econs is offering a focused Economics Evaluation Workshop for JC students, built around our proprietary "MR FAST" framework to help students score consistently on EV marks. This workshop is suitable for both H1 and H2 Economics students — and J1s are welcome too, as building strong evaluation habits early sets a solid foundation well ahead of the A-levels.

How Does an Econs Evaluation Workshop Help?

This workshop focuses on evaluation — one of the most elusive and hardest-to-master components of essay writing, worth around 20% of the total score. Through a concentrated session, we teach students how to move beyond one-sided analysis and construct balanced, well-reasoned judgements that examiners reward.

Learning Outcomes and Objectives

Our Economics Evaluation Workshop aims to prepare students for exams by teaching them the right evaluation methods. By the end of the course, students should be able to:

Master evaluation techniques and understand the key structures behind R1 (Requirement 1) and R2 (Requirement 2) as adopted by the new syllabus answer keys.
Break down and identify question requirements, so key evaluative points and concepts of frequently asked questions can be addressed.
Uncover key evaluation skills using our proprietary "MR FAST" framework to identify the criteria essential for scoring EV marks.

Content and Teaching Methods

Throughout the workshop, students develop the skills and knowledge needed to analyse question requirements and construct strong evaluative arguments. We provide worked solutions to give them hands-on exposure to the ideal answering techniques and structure.

Key features of this workshop:

Picking the right angle to evaluate: Students will learn how to identify which evaluative angle is most defensible and relevant to a given question, so their judgement is targeted rather than generic.
How to apply strategies: Students will be shown negative demonstrations of poorly evaluated answers, and how to apply the correct techniques to fix these mistakes.
Time management: Many students run out of time before reaching their evaluation, leaving significant marks on the table. This workshop equips students with time management skills to make sure evaluation gets the attention it deserves.
